2020 has been some year and we as a community have seen so many challenges. Many of us have suffered losses in our businesses or employment, perhaps even a family member or close friend. The camaraderie amongst friends and meeting new acquaintances has been put on hold while we all focus on staying healthy and safe.
As you might know, the City of Santa Barbara has been struggling with ways to keep our downtown businesses open. During these uncertain times they moved towards a promenade which has kept the downtown restaurants open and created a "new place to be". This of course is good to see for our local businesses and community, however, it has created an issue for our annual car show.
As some of you have already inquired, and have heard, our worst fear has been confirmed, State Street has been replaced with a permanent downtown promenade.
In discussions to find a new venue that meets all the needs of our ever-growing show. With very heavy hearts, we the committee of the State Street Nationals have decided not to relocate the show. The 2019 year of heavy rains, lite winds, and dark clouds parting to a sunny afternoon, is not the way we wanted to end our 19-year run. We cannot thank you enough for all of your support over the years and we want to thank you for the memories.
